It is well recognized that Korea’s shipping industry is the greatest in the world for a long time, in production, productivity, and accuracy. Since the limitation of geographical location and a production capability, the Korean shipping industry has been overtaken by People’s Republic of China. It is first and most important to maximize profits per one ship. To achieve this, the increase of productivity and accuracy which can be done by developing some new automation equipment is absolutely necessary. With this regard, in this presentation, the importance of control engineering in increasing productivity and accuracy of shipbuilding will be introduced.
