Postech and Intel, the world-leading semiconductor company, agree on “Intel & Postech University Shuttle Program.” By this agreement, Postech will receive 22nm FinFET Low-Power (22FFL) foundry service from Intel. Foundry is a service of manufacturing semiconductor devices that are ordered and designed by customers.

Intel runs “University Shuttle Program,” through which Intel collaborates with outstanding research universities to provide the needed Si resources to further the advancement of knowledge. Professor Byungsub Kim, the Postech’s principal communicator for this program, said “Researchers in Korean universities could not dare to use advanced semiconductor technologies such as 22nm FinFET Low-Power in their research activities because of the cost issues. Intel’s 22nm FinFET Low-Power technology is the masterpiece semiconductor technology of Intel and known for the best performance among the other similar technology nodes.

By this donation program, Postech takes an advantageous position in semiconductor research because Postech researchers gained access to such advanced technology without the cost issues.”
